We're excited to announce our new SugarSync app for Android devices. It's really cool - if you have an Android phone, you can access all of your data directly from your phone. We previously launched apps for iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and we work on Mac and PC's, so we've got most people covered :-)
Android tip: if you want to edit Microsoft Word and Excel files on your phone, buy the Documents to Go app for Android. With SugarSync and Documents to Go, you can download a Word doc from the SugarSync cloud to your phone, edit the document using Documents to Go on your phone, and upload it back to the cloud. Then, you can even share with with others. All from your phone! Documents to Go is not our app, but it works well. It doesn't support the .docx format yet, but they're working on it.
If you aren't familiar with SugarSync, it's a cool online backup and sync service - you can backup your data from any of your computers to the cloud, where it safe, secure, and available 24x7. You can sync folders across multiple computers (e.g., I have my My Documents folder in sync across my work and home computers) so you always have access to the data you need. You can collaborate with others by sharing files or entire folders. We also do some fun stuff with photos and music (for example, you can stream music from your home computer to your work computer). You should check it out.
Best of all - we now have a Free 2GB plan! Sign up with this link and you can get free bonus storage when you register:
http://bit.ly/a2M8wWe're a perfect solution for Netbooks since they are typically a companion device with a small hard drive. Using SugarSync, you can access all of your data even if your Netbook doesn't have space for it all on the hard drive (you can access your data from the cloud without storing it on your Netbook). That's one of the reasons we're so excited about Android - over the next year or so, a lot of Netbooks will be shipping with Android as the operating system.
For the geeks out there, the next question is "what about Google's Chrome OS?" We're actually excited about that, too. We're happy to support all of the popular platforms. And yes, Linus is on our roadmap :-)
We've been getting some good coverage of the new app:
